This month we have our exhibition to check out with family and friends. It is at the Charlestown Library until 26 September. Twenty artists produced 35 artworks for this wonderful show. Thank you to the Exhibition Team for months of work, and Ann-Maree Kelly and Wilma Simmons who curated it, with Judi Nikoleski and Kate Highland, for our viewing pleasure. It will open at 10am, Tuesday June 5. Thank you for donations of plinths and mannekins, Susanne and Judi.
Thank you for all the activity last month. NCEATA’s ‘Blue by You’ works looked amazing on the walls of the Craft Alive display, Broadmeadow Racecourse Hall. Carolyn Clausen used her understanding of so many hand sewing techniques to guide our productions and Wilma worked with us, using the machine, having so much fun exploring Aileen Lee’s technique.
What a BUZZ it was to be involved in Wilma’s Textile Tasters Saturday week ago! So many interested and enthusiastic people walked through that door and stayed for the hours, stitching and discussing techniques, admiring the ‘Blue by You’ works and there will be a few new and returning members to greet over the coming months. We are grateful to presenters: Robyn Cohen, Anne Dixon, Ann Harper, Kate Highland, Wendy Scott, Narelle Sheahan and Sue Russell, and especially to Wilma for her tireless organizing. We really appreciate all the effort each attending member put in to making the afternoon tea table. Our thoughts remain with all those who planned to present or be present as we all navigate life’s challenges. Please reach out to those you know who need your text or phone call as every small caring gesture helps.
Judi and Kate continue to organise and work with LMCC on acquiring a suitable space for the Fibre Hub and are due to attend another meeting about a specific space – a very exciting possibility!
The AGM is fast approaching. There is an information document about the positions on the Committee and / or any Team, and you will have the opportunity to talk with others about nominating and / or taking a role this month, before the July 19 AGM, at 1pm.
Have fun until we meet again on Monday, June 2 at 10am!
