A Community Stitched Together Since 1979

NCEATA was first formed in Newcastle over forty years ago. Newcastle Creative Embroiderers and Textile Artists have been bringing together dynamic textile artists of all skill levels to share, learn and network.

Our Creative Legacy

For over forty years, NCEATA has been at the heart of the Hunter’s textile art scene. Founded in 1979 by a passionate group of artists, our group has grown into a dynamic community dedicated to nurturing creativity at every skill level. We champion both traditional techniques and contemporary innovation, providing a space where members can connect, share their knowledge, and push the boundaries of their artistic practice.

Our Story

Our mission is to foster a supportive and inspiring environment where textile artists can flourish. We aim to:

Connect

Create a welcoming community for members to build friendships, share ideas, and feel a sense of belonging.

Create

Encourage artistic growth, experimentation, and the pursuit of excellence in all forms of textile art.

Share

Provide opportunities for learning through regular meetings, expert-led workshops, and the generous exchange of skills between members.

Exhibit

Promote the public appreciation of embroidery and textile arts by showcasing the incredible work of our members.
