In June, we welcomed a new member, Tracey McNicoll, who joined us working on Machine Couching with workshop presenter, Judi. We hope you are challenged whilst enjoying us and the workshops for years to come! Doris’ workshop attracted many of us to work on a Pebble Paperweight. Visitors, Jenny, Jenny and Kim came along and we hope they had a little fun and learned even more! Some of us are into finishing our UFOs so continue to work on those whilst the workshops are in progress. Our hosts, Roberta Hodgson and Sue Russell deserve a mention, adding delicious extras to the morning and afternoon tea table, and it is always lovely to see so many considerate people arrive a little earlier to help set up, and do their bit again on leaving the Hall.
Narelle Sheahan has generously offered to use her skills to make up an artwork using our pieces from the ‘Blue By You’ display for Craft Alive and again, used during the May Textile Tasters. If you have received yours, and are willing to have them incorporated into the work, please hand them to Narelle. Ann-Maree Kelly opened NCEATA’s ‘Out of the Blue’ Exhibition at Charlestown Library. The Exhibition Team is very grateful to so many members who came along to chat and share art stories and techniques, as well as morning tea. During Dobell Week, we worked on ‘Embellishing Your Own Garment’ with members of the public, using the following techniques: appliqué, beading, block printing and boro stitching. There are a few changes with location to the HAN Art Bazaar, so please access more information as it is announced at meetings, or check the minutes as they are uploaded onto the website. We look forward to more learning during the July workshops and bringing family and friends to our exhibition.
Our annual subscriptions are due from July 1. To have your vote count on issues, you need to be a financial member. Our AGM is to be held from 1pm, on Saturday, July 19.
